It seems a long time, this mid-winter month’s turn from moon to moon. Perhaps it is because I have been fully embracing the dark time, honouring the time of slow things, retreating, dreaming, resting, nurturing and creating. Gently stirring the pot. Caring for Spirit, mind and body…
and yet I count the days (27) until the promise of the return of the light. Lineage memory is so very powerful for there is a part of me that prays, certain only in trust, for its return. For the birth of the new Sun God…the promise of light and life, the awakening of Earth Mother and all of nature still holding the sun in their roots and their bellies.
It is 3 o’clock, a dark afternoon and I light a candle. Not to banish the darkness but to dance with and in it and for it. The Wheel turns.
